Do you think an African villager trying to protect his starving kids from man eating lions ever thinks about his personal well-being? Does he need to work on his ability to live in the now and be present in the moment? Or is he just thinking about stabbing the tip of his homemade spear into some, soon to be dinner, water buffaloes’ throat so that his family eats for the night?

Just for a second, I want you to imagine the look on his face while you explain how you took a year off from “life” to backpack through the former national park system and discover your true authentic self.

His reason for living is constantly staring him down on the savannah, and his true authentic self is just one random lion attack away. Your reason for living… Well

Life used to revolve around survival, now it revolves around fixing the problems we created for ourselves. That villager would probably think you were too stupid to understand, so I’ll explain it for him. Meaning, purpose, even happiness, come from being useful, which you are not, because how could you be?

Am I really the first person telling you this? No one ever explained that very simple concept to you?

Well here it goes:

Your great granddaddy fought in the war to make sure you wouldn’t have to fight for anything. Problem is, anything isn’t much fun unless you fought in the war to get it. Now you blame them for this world you ‘have’ to live in, all because the truth is too painful for you to recognize.

Do you get me now or do I have to completely spell it out? You laugh at the people who pray, pity those who live in myth. You see their smiles and call it ignorance, then create a God of your own, and name it logic.

What do you do with that logic? You try and recreate the very garden Adam and Eve left in first place. Guess God was right all along. You made the choice to eat the apple, you did this. You are God and this is heaven. We all create the heaven we want to live in, and this is the heaven you chose for yourself.
